Scrap the Pointless Elected Mayor of Middlesbrough
Local man Mark Brown is leading a new campaign to axe the pointless elected mayor of Middlesbrough - which costs £62,000 of tax-payers’ money that could be spent on vital local services.
“Middlesbrough’s tax-payers are the only ones in the local region paying TWO elected mayors - with Boro’s Labour council paying £62,000 of your taxes to a Labour politician,” said Mark Brown, “and I want that spent on
key services instead.”
Tax-payers in Darlington, Stockton, Hartlepool, and Redcar only pay for the Tees Valley Mayor — with their local councillors running the councils without an extra high-paid elected mayor for their towns.
Mark Brown and Middlesbrough Lib Dems would invest the savings in pot holes, play areas, and police instead of a pointless political office.
